Their new website had to position the business as the global leader in luxury online property investment - and it had to do it in English and Arabic.

Overcoming a restrictive CMS legacy

We worked with Emaar on site in Dubai to establish their goals, gather information and material, and gain insight into what was wrong with their existing site. Our work had to integrate with a legacy CMS platform, Tridion, which came with its own set of restrictions which we needed to work around and overcome.

Not just a bilingual site

Building a site with options for European languages is generally straightforward, as alternative text can occupy the same space without much adjustment. Arabic presents a number of challenges, not least the fact that it reads right to left rather than left to right. We managed to develop a flexible design so the entire site would work for both English and Arabic, and chose fonts which would deliver a consistent design style in both languages.

Tight timescales

We had only four weeks to complete the design and front-end build of our site, in both English and Arabic. This was a tough call, requiring quite a few late nights. We produced multiple variations of design for sign off by Sheikh Mohamed Alabbar, the company’s founder and chairman, and delivered weekly code packages for the Emaar IT team.
