Equator are always keen to foster innovation. We also recognise how important it is to engage with the new generation of digital pioneers who will ultimately help us take on tomorrow! Previously, our team engaged with the students at Bellshill Academy to show them what a career in digital looks like. Today, we want to tell you about the lectures we’ve been running with marketing students as part of their curriculum in the Strathclyde University Business School.

Our partnership with Strathclyde University is long-standing and mutually beneficial...

A long-standing relationship

Over the years, the Equator team has jumped at the chance work with marketing students studying at Strathclyde University. We have collaborated closely with the lecturers who run the courses to ensure the curriculum offers insight into the latest innovations and skills required to build a career in digital marketing. In times gone by, we've had the opportunity to deliver these lectures at the University itself. However, for the last couple of years, we've had to adapt to remote classes! Despite not being able to make it in person, both the team and the students had a great time with our lectures!

Covering all areas

Various Equator team members delivered a number of classes across the last few months. All of these have been really useful for the students. The team collaborated closely with the teaching staff at the university and came up with a programme of lectures that hold real value.

The classes we ran covered ranging topics with top level ideas around running an agency, developing a digital strategy for improved customer experience, and insights into analytics planforms, CRM and digital personalisation. We also gave the students a view on various digital marketing channels such as SEO, PPC, affiliate marketing, outreach, and social media marketing.

This suite of lectures, in collaboration with existing syllabus, is designed to give the students the skills they need to achieve their qualifications from the university, whilst setting them up for a lasting career in digital!

Valuable for the students

The Equator team were thrilled to see the students so engaged. Professor Graeme McLean, Director of MSc in Digital Marketing Management at Strathclyde University, believes the partnership with Equator is valuable in setting up his student's careers beyond university.

“We have been working with Equator for the past 4 years within our MSc in Digital Marketing Management at the University of Strathclyde. Being a leader in their field, Equator are able to bring cutting-edge practical expertise to equip our students with the skills required to succeed in industry. Following the successful completion of the programme, students have secured positions at Equator, other digital agencies, and with leading brands all around the world.”

Starting students on their careers

The world of digital is full of exciting careers and opportunities. We have been grateful to collaborate with these classes and inspire the students in a career across some of the disciplines we showcased at the business school. The relationship between Equator and Strathclyde goes beyond this run of lectures.

Bringing the future

Equator has enjoyed taking on several team members directly from these classes. Making that early connection is vital for a successful career in digital, and we’re always happy to help where we can. Whether it’s entry-level career positions or internships, Equator recognises the talent that's fostered in the Strathclyde University Business School. Recently, our Search Executive Nicholas Barclay wrote about his experiences on coming from Strathclyde University to Equator. You can read about his personal experience here.
