Transforming brands, creating better lives

Wheatley Group & GHA

The Wheatley Group provides housing and property services to over a quarter of a million people in Scotland, making it one of the UK’s biggest landlords. We’ve worked closely with the group during ten years of radical change.

Creating, evolving and collaborating

A major part of the Wheatley Group is Glasgow Housing Association, universally known as GHA and the biggest social landlord in Scotland. We were instrumental in creating and evolving the GHA brand. Later, when the parent group moved to new headquarters, we collaborated with their architect to bring the brand to life in the built environment. We’ve also transformed the Group’s identity in printed material and online, and worked with a number of other sub brands in addition to GHA.

Miles better for Glasgow

GHA took on the City Council’s social housing stock, and is now Scotland’s biggest landlord. It was important for the Association to develop an appropriate personality and engage with the people of Glasgow, particularly the many tens of thousands whose homes they manage.

We brought life and character to brand communications through a revised colour palette, refreshed typography and a distinctive illustration style. Together with a fresh tone of voice, this ensured consistency across all applications. A robust visual system means the brand can be extended as GHA grows, and as new media channels and initiatives are added.

Putting it to work

Our new brand identity has been applied to annual reports, campaign posters, staff uniforms, vehicle livery, exhibition stands and more.

One landmark project was The Big Red Truck, an immersive mobile exhibition using innovative technology. The project toured the Greater Glasgow area for almost two years, connecting with over 40,000 people. It also won several creative and digital awards.

More for Wheatley

When GHA’s parent Wheatley Group relocated, we worked with their architect and helped design the new five-storey building - in particular the main entrance foyer, the staff training academy, and the main public spaces. We delivered an integrated, connected brand experience, adding impact and personality to the new environment.

We’ve also developed the brand’s identity and applied it to printed literature and the Group’s website, and developed a further sub-brand, Your Place.

Our work has been intrinsic to how GHA - and the wider Wheatley Group - is perceived by tenants, suppliers, local authorities and the general public.
