Sean: AWIN Talks Podcast
I was lucky enough to be featured on the Awin Talks podcast last month discussing the thought piece article I wrote for the Awin Report 2019. As someone whose brother is a full-time professional podcast host, I had never really held any aspirations to jump in front of the mic myself. Sure, I did a stint as a DJ on my university’s radio station but that was way back in the day when people still used CDs and manually queued up tracks to play!
The opportunity arose from speaking with Rob Davinson, Content Analyst at Awin. I had worked with Rob on a Q&A piece for one of previous editions of the Awin Report covering off the state of affairs in the UK. As the Awin Report seeks to shine a light on all of Awin’s global territories, it provides an invaluable insight into the global affiliate marketing scene and the subtle nuances that defines each region. In the 2019 report (which you can download here), I looked to share my thoughts on where affiliate marketing sits in the wider digital mix. As someone who has been involved in the industry for 11+ years, I have seen the role of affiliate marketing naturally evolve, and I was keen to highlight how we here at Equator have expanded the role of the channel and aligned it with some of our other teams.
The decision we made internally here to take Outreach out of the Search team, where it had traditionally sat before, and join forces with my team resulted in the formation of the Partnerships team. This joining of forces and shared skillsets has massively benefitted our own internal ways of working and, in turn, the results for our clients. By aligning our teams, we have created a new service that draws on the shared ability of both teams to build and forge new relationships on behalf of our clients. I discuss this in much more detail in the Awin Report, and you can get a snippet of the chat on the Awin Talks podcast (around the 06:15 mark).
