Weather-generated ads are not a new thing. We’ve run ad campaigns based on snow or temperatures. This NBA campaign, however, has taken weather targeting to a new level. The clothing in the ads change based in real time on local weather. Furthermore, they’ve layered on geo-targeting so that the model/player changes based on the team the viewer is closest to. So if it’s sunny and you’re in Chicago, you’ll get an ad featuring Joakim Noah sporting shorts and a tee. You can see the ads in action here. Now that is smart local ad delivery!
