Recruitment is an integral part of any affiliate programme strategy, and something we here at Equator spend a lot of time on. Having a great mix of quality affiliates on a programme is essential to success and growth. Here we share some pointers on how to manage affiliate recruitment effectively:

Keep your objectives in mind

When undertaking affiliate recruitment, it is important that you don’t lose sight of your overall business objectives. By keeping your overall business objectives in mind when recruiting affiliate partners you will ensure that relevant, quality partners are recruited who can ultimately help achieve overall business goals.

Quality vs Quantity

You may think that if you are not recruiting a high volume of affiliates each week your programme will not grow. This is not the case. A small pool of quality affiliates, who have a relevant audience for your product offering, will be worth more than a huge volume of affiliates that are not particularly suitable for your product offering.

Get personal

It is easy to send out generic emails to all affiliate partners, however, here at Equator we have found that a little effort goes a long way. If you show the affiliate you really value the relationship they will really put in the effort to promote your brand.

A few ways in which the affiliate team at Equator maintain long lasting relationships with affiliates include:

  • Creating bespoke offers for individual affiliates – ensuring the offer is relevant to the affiliates audience is a great way to ensure great results
  • Highlight the benefits to the affiliate from promoting your brand – mention the competitive commission level, exciting incentive schedule or AOV to generate their interest in promoting your brand
  • Most importantly, once you have successfully recruited an affiliate onto your programme, don’t forget about them. Maintain continuous contact with newsletters, emails and calls to keep partners up to date on relevant news and offers
