New Local Ads on Google Maps App
With the latest update to the Google Maps app comes a powerful new channel for advertisers.
Relevant local ads can now be displayed at the bottom of the screen based on the user's search query. These ads include a title, ad text and a link to get directions, along with an estimated journey time.
So what can this function be used for? Well, imagine you run the best steak restaurant in London - maps and guidebooks are all well and good for advertising, but they're basically out of date as soon as they're printed.
These days, there couldn't be a more convenient place to target potential customers than on their smartphone. So when they open the Google Maps app on their phone and type in "best steakhouse in London" your restaurant could pop up, along with directions.
Users can then tap or swipe the ad upwards for more details which results in a standard CPC charge. Then they will see the business's address, phone number, photos and reviews.
