Twitter said in a blog post that it will allow advertisers to use an application programming interface (API), which makes it simpler for marketers to automate purchases of ads on Twitter. This will make the purchase process a bit more like Facebook's. With "real-time" marketing becoming the marketing buzzword 'du jour', this could present Twitter advertisers with real opportunity to capitalise on current, localised posts and trends.
