The importance of affiliate resources

We've recently launched two new affiliate programmes and we know that joining and getting started with a new programme is not always as easy as it seems for affiliates.

We've recently launched two new affiliate programmes and we know that joining and getting started with a new programme is not always as easy as it seems for affiliates.

In order for affiliates to set up a new merchant on their site, there is a lot of work involved, from writing copy to sourcing the correct images and banners. That being said, many merchants do not have sufficient information available for affiliates to make the task of setting up a new merchant a quick and easy process.

To lessen the work and time involved for affiliates when they join a new programme, merchants and agencies must ensure they offer sufficient resources and support to new partners. By doing so it enables the publisher to begin promoting your brand faster, thus making the new partnership as lucrative as possible from the word go.

That's why here at Equator we regularly update our affiliate resources', including our banners to reflect merchant's seasonal offers and our copy is regularly updated and communicated directly to our partners. We also send out monthly newsletters to inform all affiliates of new offers or incentives as well as any programme updates and are always on hand to provide tailored copy for all affiliates should they require any assistance.

Providing sufficient, up to date and relevant resources for your affiliates can be an effective way of developing your affiliate programme as this reduced the work involved for partners in promoting your brand. Continually updating your resources can also keep affiliates motivated to continue promoting your brand.

We have outlined the main resources you should have available for all partners below:

  • Content fresh, up to date and engaging brand content approved for affiliate use should be available for all affiliates to ease their promotion of your brand
  • Guidelines clear brand guidelines should be provided for affiliates so they understand straight away the best way to promote your brand
  • Creative banners, logos and images should all be updated regularly to enable affiliates to have engaging creative to promote your brand on their site
  • Programme updates communicate any programme updates with all affiliates regularly so they can easily find information on current incentives, new offers and products or any changes to your programme

Providing these resources allows affiliates to easily retrieve the information they need in order to successfully promote your brand. This also reduces the work load for your new partners, making your programme more attractive to join and promote over a competitor's.
