PLAs (Product Listing Ads) go global
This month Google announced an important development to the mobile shopping experience - Product Listing Ads are now eligible to appear on high-end mobiles across the globe.
Retail-related searches will now reflect the results shown (up to now) on desktops and tablets. As shown in the image below, the update will give users the full Google shopping experience, with the usual product-rich images and price information being displayed. Clicking on the individual product links enable the user to learn more or purchase, whilst the 'Shop on Google' link will deliver users into Google Shopping where a wider range of products (and further comparison shopping) is made possible.
With Google's "Mobile Search Moments" study (published earlier this month) highlighting that shopping queries conducted on mobile devices are twice as likely to take place in-store, this development will be a welcome addition for many retailers.
