A4U London 2012: Our expectations
Matthew Scott has recently joined our affiliate marketing team at Equator. Here he shares his thoughts about the upcoming A4U Expo. We look forward to meeting you all there!
Although Equator are regular attendees at A4U events, A4U London 2012 will personally be my first time and I'm looking forward to it! I have been to a number of industry events in the past, but I'm especially looking forward to the scale of this event and the opportunity to meet with affiliates and clients - which I find equally as insightful as the talks.
It's an early one starting at 9am, but the "Changing Consumer Habits" talk will be first on my agenda and will have broad appeal to those across the board of the Affiliate industry. The talk is to include technological advancements and consumer habits, especially over the course of the past two years. The talk will also include "Brand Advocacy" and how consumers expect to be advertised to. I expect to learn more on the expanding role of Mobile in the affiliate sphere ( we may also see suggestions as to how the likes of Facebook will integrate mobile advertising into their strategy in the near future!).
I believe the growing importance of Mobile in affiliate Marketing was emphasised at the Barcelona A4U and again I expect this to be a recurring theme throughout the London Expo. The talk "Consumers are Socially Mobile: Get Your Mobile Search in Order!" expands on this and will look at the opportunities in search and social and how they intertwine in driving traffic on mobile, and streamlining this for optimum conversion rates. Similarly "Striking Gold! How Mobile Marketing Pioneers are Winning the Hearts & Minds of Customers" will offer insights into continued engagement in the M-Commerce area. I'll be looking out for particular hints, tips and potential insights as to what sectors will be seeing most benefits from this newer avenue. I'd recommend this talk to affiliates who have been thinking of diving into the M-Commerce realm but are not yet fully immersed and of course to those who already earn via this manner.
Talking of conversions, it's always good to have a clinic to get things in order, and "Conversion Site Clinic: Live" will be a good opportunity again for picking up some hints and tips. The end of the day will be a networking opportunity where I will be interested to speak with those who may have questions for Equator and to inform affiliates about our soon -to-be launched programs.
The second day of the Expo also offers a host of interesting talks and panels. We've expanded more into foreign markets recently, with the aim of expanding further on a global reach, therefore "Global Brand Building for Advertisers AND Publishers" will be an important one for me. This will be particularly interesting to hear from big brands and how they maintain local market reputation and their growth strategies; affiliates and Merchants - take note!
I'm excited to find out how people are getting on, if they have any new projects, what problems they have encountered and what solutions they have come up with. It's always interesting to hear how things are going on at the front line with affiliates, and to discuss what opinions people have on the talks.
Jennifer and myself will be representing the Affiliate team from Equator, so please don't be a stranger and we'll see you there.
