Delivering a level of control many PPC managers have long craved, this new option enables settings to be selected and applied at adgroup level instead of campaign level.

In our April article we brought you the news that Google had moved Display Network management into its own tab. And last month, 'Flexible Reach' targeting was Google's latest addition to this area. Delivering a level of control many PPC managers have long craved, this new option enables settings to be selected and applied at adgroup level instead of campaign level.

Before, separate campaigns had to be set up to accommodate your preference for using one or more targeting methods. Now, various strategies can co-exist under single campaigns. Don't forget one thing though - presently you can't revert back to the old targeting setting once you switch over. So make sure you set up a separate campaign to see if you like it first.

This additional level of customisation has of course caused many to speculate whether this marks the beginning of Google rolling out adgroup control settings to other features - site links and geo-targeting for instance. Google is yet to announce anything of the like but we've got our fingers crossed like the rest of the industry.
