Continuing the rich vein of recent updates, Google have announced that the AdWords repertoire has been expanded to include the targeting of mobile apps. This new feature opens up the opportunity to advertise on the 300,000 mobile apps in the AdMob network using the new Display Network only (mobile apps) campaign type.

Within the broad offering of apps available to be targeted specific categories of apps, such as entertainment or games, can be selected, as well as individual apps themselves.

With this new addition also comes the ability to select specific mobile device models or brands to target, be it in a new mobile Display Network campaign or in an existing Search Network targeted campaign. For example you might wish to target Samsung devices or perhaps only Samsung Galaxy device models.

These changes mark an important milestone in the development of Google's mobile offering, essentially adding a Display Network component to complement the existing Search Network avenue and the flexibility to be more specific in the targeting of mobile devices. With mobile such a rapidly growing and increasingly important market the increased advertising options and more specific targeting could be of great benefit to many PPC campaigns.
