Google Analytics gets a facelift

Mid month Google announced that an improved version of Google Analytics was currently in testing and on the cusp of being rolled out to everyone (well, in a few months anyway).

The official Google blogs are as usual keeping details on the update to a minimum but some industry sources have been celebrating at the prospect of some new additions...

  • In-interface alerts
  • Custom variables for visitor segmentation
  • Advanced filtering
  • More goals
  • Engagement goals

From the changes it looks as though using the GA interface will become simpler and more intuitive which is no bad thing. Beyond this what we're really after though is more actionable data and hopefully that's what we'll get.
