On the back of some big changes round here, we were delighted to be awarded this prize that recognises talent from digital agencies in Scotland. In just one year we acquired 999 Design, one of the UK’s longest standing and most respected independent branding agencies, we launched Equator PR, to capitalise on the increasing appetite for integrated PR & social and, as a result, grew over 30% - increasing our team to over 170 people. To make it even better, this was the second time Equator has scooped this award. That's right, we were also named Digital Agency of the Year in 2013 after a huge expansion.

999 Design, part of the Equator Family, now holds a staggering 15 Design Business Association (DBA) awards, celebrating the effectiveness of their work. Scooping all these prestigious awards in the last 10 years truly shows the creative nature of 999 Design across its clients, including the Financial Times and Kings College London. This puts 999 in the top 15 most effective agencies in the UK.

Our brilliant team won best SEO strategy of the year in 2016 for its work with AXA Business Insurance. Taking an innovative approach of educating the market place through engaging content, we helped deliver an incredible performance, including a 75% year-on-year increase in organic revenue and a 68% year-on-year increase in organic sales. How's that for big numbers?

Best financial services campaign.
Our SEO team was recognised for their great work for AXA Business Insurance at The Drum's Search Awards. Equator received the best financial services campaign award for its hard work on the campaign. This was the first SEO Awards held by The Drum and we were thrilled to be among the winners in the inaugural event. Our innovative strategy, driven by the development of a creative, attention-grabbing content campaign, improved average monthly revenue from organic search as well as the ranking of key search terms.

Best use of social media.
What do you get when you mix chicks, eggs and dragons? An award-winning campaign. Our work for business accelerator Entrepreneurial Spark was named best use of social media at the Herald's Scottish Digital Business Awards. What made it so award-winning? We developed a successful social campaign to drive applications to Entrepreneurial Spark’s new hatcheries in Brighton, Bristol and Leeds that exceeded all targets and expectations. Over 8,000 visits were driven to the application page from social media activity, attracting a total of 302 applications and beating targets by 21%.

Equator has been named as the number one independent marketing agency in Scotland and number 16 in the UK in The Drum Independent Agencies Census 2014. The research into 276 of the UK’s independent agencies looked at financial performance, client and peer reviews when compiling the league table.

Gold in beauty and cosmetics website category
Award wins aren't always cut and dry - but it was with our work for Paul Mitchell. Our work for the hair care company won gold in the W3 beauty and cosmetics website category. US-based Paul Mitchell contacted us directly after being impressed by the award-winning website we built for luxury whisky brand The Macallan, and we were happy to replicate this success for the hair care brand.
Two gold awards for work well done
What's better than winning one award? Winning two awards! We managed to achieve this in the 2014 Awwwards - the beautiful websites we created for Paul Mitchell and Macallan led to us scooping two gold awards. Two golds... that's better than Great Britain did in the 2014 Winter Olympics.

Best website: The Macallan and Malmaison
We love winning an award - and it's even better when we win twice in one night. That's exactly what happened with the Roses Creative Awards. Not only did we receive the gold award for The Macallan’s The Masters of Photography website work, we also won silver for our Malmaison website design. Result!
Social Buzz Awards 2013.
Best social media strategy in the finance sector
We were pretty chuffed when our social campaign for AXA PPP healthcare reached over 18 million people, with a 9% engagement rate - and even more chuffed when it was named best social media strategy for the finance sector at the 2013 Social Buzz Awards. Our campaign saw us reposition AXA PPP healthcare from a faceless insurance provider to a trusted source of information and advice on all areas of health and wellbeing.

Consumer Engagement - The Masters of Photography
The Herald 2013 awards saw us named digital agency of the year, with the judges saying they were impressed by our international growth (2013 was the year we opened our New York office and hired over 100 employees), impressive client list and the way we execute our work. Not content with that, we also scooped a second award: with our work for The Macallan’s Masters of Photography campaign named winner of the consumer engagement category.

Website redesign - Macdonald Hotels
Equator’s new site for Macdonald Hotels managed to defy the market by increasing average booking revenue by 8%. Not only that, but Macdonald Hotels was one of the first hotel sites in the world to go live with fully responsive functionality on all devices. It was these fantastic results that led to us winning the website design category at 2012's The Herald Scottish Digital Business Awards.
Drum Awards for the Digital Industries (DADIs) 2009
Best integrated campaign.
Who's the DADI? We are. Our work for skincare brand OXY nabbed us one of The Drum's awards for the digital industry. Equator was appointed to develop an integrated brand strategy for OXY aimed at standing out and gaining loyalty. Our strategy was based around the idea that girls like guys who look after their skin. It worked - we grew brand awareness from 57% to 66%.
