The brief
In a bid to invest more time, knowledge and funding into
renewable energy sources, Scottish Hydro decided to create a Centre
for Renewable Excellence, right in the middle of Glasgow's city
centre.
Their new venue would boast an electric car garage, so people
can charge and park their electric vehicles, along with a permanent
exhibition that would be used to educate people of all ages about
the various forms of renewable energy. The exhibition would allow
visitors to explore the various forms of renewable energy
production and outline how this clean form of energy can be used in
the home.
The solution
After successfully pitching for the project against a number of
other agencies, the team at Equator were brought on board to create
a simple online presence for the exhibition centre. During the
project, Scottish Hydro decided that they wanted to make the
website much more interactive and informative. They came to us with
a bigger budget to do so; obviously, we jumped at the opportunity
to create something very special for their new investment.
Our design team was also tasked with the creation of a
beautiful, head-turning wrap for SSE's electric car, which was
eventually featured throughout the press. Even though we were faced
with a very tight window to complete this project, we still managed
to deliver a beautiful site on time and on budget.
The result
The website enabled visitors to either book a charging slot for
their electric vehicles, book a test drive in an EV or simply find
out information about the exhibition. Since the launch of the site,
we've received a lot of positive feedback and we're hoping to
continue building the awareness of the site and enhancing
engagement with users. A job well done.
