De Agostini ModelSpace

Everyone at some point in their life has come into contact with a De Agostini product. De Agostini UK is the leading partwork publisher in the UK, with an extremely wide and diverse range of subjects and titles from Hannah Montana to John Wayne collectables.

De Agostini approached us, wanting us to create a new fine modelling website, which has initially launched with ship modelling content. This is the first phase in the roll-out of many new model brands for De Agostini.


Equator were committed to working in partnership with De Agostini to deliver a best-in-class fine modelling website. Objectives of the project were:

• Create an online only partwork (the first time in De Agostini's history)
• Create an ongoing community for model ship builders all over the world
• Monetise De Agostini's online offering
• Develop a flexible site that can be expanded over time to encompass other model types in addition to ships

The ship modelling site is open to all and offers a great community aspect to the fantastic products by allowing users from all over the world to contribute to the forum and encyclopaedia of ships.

Within just three months of launch the forum had already gained over 3,000 posts in 324 topics in 18 forums. Success on a grand scale!
